Description

A refreshing homemade Taro Milk Bubble Tea featuring creamy taro-flavored milk combined with chewy tapioca pearls, served chilled over ice. This easy-to-make drink blends the sweetness of taro powder and sugar with milk, offering a deliciously unique beverage perfect for bubble tea lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

Taro Mixture

  • 1/4 cup (60g) taro powder
  • 2 tablespoons sugar, or to taste
  • 1 cup water

Tapioca Pearls

  • 1/2 cup uncooked tapioca pearls
  • 4 cups water (for boiling pearls)

Milk and Serving

  • 1 cup whole milk or milk alternative
  • Ice cubes, as needed
  • Striped straws, for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the taro mixture: In a bowl, combine 1/4 cup taro powder, 2 tablespoons sugar, and 1 cup water. Stir thoroughly until the taro powder and sugar are completely dissolved, forming a smooth taro base.
  2. Cook the tapioca pearls: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Add 1/2 cup uncooked tapioca pearls to the boiling water. Cook according to the package instructions, usually for about 30 minutes, until the pearls become soft and chewy. Drain and set aside.
  3. Mix the taro milk: In a large glass or shaker, combine the prepared taro mixture with 1 cup of milk and stir well until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
  4. Assemble the bubble tea: Add the cooked tapioca pearls into a serving glass. Fill the glass with ice cubes, then pour the taro milk mixture over the ice and pearls. Serve immediately with a striped straw to enjoy the chewy tapioca pearls with the creamy taro milk.

Notes

  • You can substitute whole milk with any plant-based milk like almond, soy, or oat milk for a dairy-free version.
  • Adjust sugar quantity to match your preferred sweetness level.
  • Tapioca pearls are best consumed fresh on the day they are cooked to maintain their chewy texture.
  • For a colder drink, chill the taro milk mixture before assembling.
  • Stir well before drinking to evenly distribute the flavors and pearls.
