Description

Delicious and tender steak bites marinated in a flavorful blend of soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and herbs, then quickly seared in a hot skillet to achieve a perfect medium-well finish. A simple yet savory dish that’s perfect for a quick dinner or appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Marinade

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 2 tablespoons dried basil
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper

Steak

  • 1 ½ lbs. flat iron or top sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch pieces

Instructions

  1. Prepare the marinade: In a large ziplock bag, combine the soy sauce, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, minced garlic, dried basil, dried parsley, and black pepper. Stir well to mix all ingredients thoroughly.
  2. Marinate the steak: Add the cut steak pieces to the bag with the marinade. Seal the bag and shake gently to ensure the steak pieces are evenly coated. Place the bag in the refrigerator to marinate for at least 15 minutes or up to 24 hours. Longer marinating times will result in more flavorful and tender steak bites.
  3. Heat the skillet: Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat until it is very hot. This is important to achieve a good sear on the steak.
  4. Cook the steak: Remove the steak pieces from the marinade using a slotted spoon and discard the marinade. Place the steak bites into the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for approximately 3 minutes, or until they reach your preferred level of doneness — medium-well is recommended.
  5. Serve: Transfer the steak bites to a serving dish and serve warm. Enjoy your flavorful and tender steak bites immediately.

Notes

  • For best results, marinate the steak for at least 1 hour, but no more than 24 hours.
  • Use a slotted spoon to remove the steak pieces to avoid excess marinade in the pan which can cause steaming instead of searing.
  • Cooking time may vary slightly depending on the thickness of steak pieces and your stove’s heat.
  • Serve steak bites with a side of steamed vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
  • Leftover steak bites can be refrigerated for up to 3 days and reheated gently in a skillet.
