Ingredients
Scale
Beef and Sauce
- 1 lb. lean ground beef
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 Tablespoon minced garlic
- 3 Tablespoons light brown sugar
- ½ cup beef broth
- ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- ¼ cup hoisin sauce
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
Noodles and Garnish
- 8 ounces linguine noodles
- 4 green onions, sliced
- 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook and crumble the lean ground beef until fully browned. Drain off any excess grease to keep the dish light.
- Add Aromatics: Add minced garlic and ground ginger to the skillet with the beef. Cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, stirring constantly to prevent burning.
- Prepare Noodles: While the beef cooks, boil the linguine noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, rinse under cold water to stop cooking and set aside.
- Create the Sauce: To the skillet with the beef mixture, add soy sauce, beef broth, light brown sugar, hoisin sauce, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir the ingredients well until combined.
- Thicken Sauce: In a small bowl, mix cornstarch with a little cold water to create a slurry. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the skillet and bring to a gentle boil. Cook until the sauce thickens, stirring frequently.
- Combine Noodles and Sauce: Add the cooked linguine noodles to the skillet and toss them thoroughly with the sauce and beef, ensuring each strand is coated evenly.
- Serve and Garnish: Remove from heat and let the noodles absorb the sauce flavors for a few minutes. Serve warm, garnished with sliced green onions and optional sesame seeds. Enjoy your homemade Mongolian Beef and Noodles!
