Instructions
- Preheat and partially bake crust: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Fit the pre-made pie crust into a pie dish and bake for 10 minutes, or until the crust is lightly golden.
- Mix dry ingredients: In a medium saucepan, combine the brown sugar, white sugar, and cornstarch to create the base for the custard filling.
- Add milk: Gradually whisk in the whole milk until the sugar and cornstarch mixture is completely smooth without lumps.
- Cook custard base: Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens to a custard-like consistency, being careful not to burn or curdle it.
- Incorporate egg yolks, vanilla, and butter: Remove the saucepan from heat. Whisk in the egg yolks quickly to temper them, followed by the vanilla extract and butter, mixing until the filling is smooth and well combined.
