Ingredients
Scale
Brownie Batter
- 1/2 cup (50 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup (65 g) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup (113 g) butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon (5 ml) vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon (1 g) salt
Cream Cheese Swirl
- 8 oz (225 g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- Orange food coloring, as needed
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare an 8×8 inch (20×20 cm) baking pan by greasing it or lining it with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Make Brownie Batter: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar until smooth. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract to blend all ingredients evenly.
- Prepare Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add 1/4 cup of granulated sugar and one egg, mixing until well combined. Add orange food coloring gradually until the desired bright orange shade is achieved.
- Assemble Brownies: Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan. Dollop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture over it, then use a knife or skewer to swirl the cream cheese into the brownie batter, creating a marbled effect. Pour the remaining brownie batter over the top and repeat the swirling process to create a beautiful pattern.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs, indicating the brownies are cooked but still moist.
- Cool and Serve: Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely before cutting into 16 squares. This allows the brownies to set properly and ensures clean slices.
Notes
- Use room temperature cream cheese for easier mixing and smoother swirl effect.
- Adjust the amount of orange food coloring according to your preference for color intensity.
- Do not overbake to keep brownies moist and fudgy.
- Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate to extend freshness.
- For a stronger chocolate flavor, use Dutch-processed cocoa powder.
