Scale
Cupcakes
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ teaspoon salt
Frosting and Decoration
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 cups powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips (for eyes)
- Edible glitter (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a muffin tin with cupcake liners for easy cupcake removal and cleanup.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt to evenly distribute the leavening agents.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract to infuse flavor.
- Combine Batter: Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the butter mixture alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture. Mix just until combined to keep the batter tender.
- Fill Cupcake Liners: Spoon the batter into the cupcake liners filling each about two-thirds full to allow room for rising.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the cupcakes to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Prepare Frosting: Beat the softened butter until creamy in a bowl. Gradually add powdered sugar while mixing on low speed. Then add heavy cream and vanilla extract, beating on high speed until the frosting is light and fluffy.
- Decorate Cupcakes: Once the cupcakes are fully cooled, frost each with the prepared buttercream. Decorate by placing mini chocolate chips to create eyes and sprinkle with edible glitter for a ghostly sparkle.
Notes
- Ensure cupcakes are completely cool before frosting to prevent melting the buttercream.
- You can substitute whole milk with any milk alternative for a different flavor or dietary preference.
- Use clear vanilla extract for a pure vanilla flavor without color.
- Store frosted cupcakes in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
- For extra spooky effect, consider adding small ghost or Halloween-themed toppers.
