Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup barbecue sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Tacos & Toppings
- 8 small flour or corn tortillas
- 1 cup shredded lettuce
- 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
- 1/4 cup sour cream (optional)
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Sauté Garlic: In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter and sauté the minced garlic for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn.
- Cook Beef: Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks. Drain excess fat if needed to keep the mixture from being greasy.
- Mix Sauce: Stir in barbecue sauce, honey, soy sauce, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer for 5 to 7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the beef evenly.
- Warm Tortillas: Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave until pliable and heated through.
- Assemble Tacos: Spoon the beef mixture evenly into each tortilla. Top generously with shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, diced tomatoes, and chopped red onion.
- Add Toppings: Add a dollop of sour cream and sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired for extra flavor and creaminess.
- Serve: Serve the tacos immediately while warm and enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or chicken for a lighter protein option.
- Add sliced jalapeños if you prefer a spicy kick.
- A squeeze of fresh lime juice adds brightness and balance to the flavors.
