Description

These Delightful Feta and Spinach Tartlets are a delicious and savory snack featuring a flaky puff pastry crust filled with a flavorful mixture of feta, Parmesan, spinach, and garlic. Perfect for parties or a light appetizer, these tartlets bake to a golden brown crisp and offer a wonderful balance of creamy, tangy, and herby flavors.

Ingredients

Scale

Pastry

  • 1 sheet Frozen puff pastry (thawed)
  • Nonstick cooking spray (for greasing muffin pan)

Filling

  • 2 tablespoons Mayonnaise (Greek yogurt can be a substitute)
  • 1 cup Crumbled feta cheese
  • 1/2 cup Freshly grated Parmesan cheese (or Pecorino Romano for sharper taste)
  • 1 cup Frozen chopped spinach (thawed and drained)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ground black pepper (can add red pepper flakes for extra heat)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 375°F (180°C) and spray the muffin pan with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Prepare Pastry Cups: Roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface and cut it into 24 equal squares. Gently press each square into the muffin cups, forming little pastry shells.
  3. Mix Filling: In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, crumbled feta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, thawed and drained chopped spinach, minced garlic, and ground black pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  4. Fill Pastry Cups: Spoon the prepared spinach and cheese filling into each pastry cup, making sure not to overfill to allow room for the pastry to puff and cook evenly.
  5. Bake Tartlets: Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 16 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed and golden brown.
  6. Cool and Serve: Remove the tartlets from the oven and let them cool on a wire rack for about 5 minutes before transferring to a serving dish. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

  • Ensure the frozen spinach is fully thawed and well-drained to avoid soggy tartlets.
  • For a sharper flavor, substitute Parmesan with Pecorino Romano cheese.
  • Mayonnaise can be replaced with Greek yogurt for a lighter filling.
  • Optional: Add red pepper flakes to the filling for a spicy kick.
  • These tartlets can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving.
