Description

This Easy One-Pan Dumplings recipe offers a quick and delicious way to prepare frozen dumplings with a flavorful soy-based glaze, all cooked in a single skillet for maximum convenience. Perfect for a simple weeknight dinner, the dumplings are steamed and then pan-fried to achieve a crisp bottom, combining texture and taste effortlessly.

Ingredients

Scale

Dumplings

  • 24 frozen dumplings or potstickers (chicken, pork, or vegetable)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3/4 cup water

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon honey or sugar

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Chili flakes (optional for heat)

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil: Place a large nonstick skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil to coat the bottom evenly.
  2. Cook dumplings bottom side: Arrange the frozen dumplings in a single layer in the skillet, being careful not to overcrowd them. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the bottoms are lightly golden and crisp.
  3. Steam the dumplings: Pour 3/4 cup water into the skillet carefully and immediately cover with a tight-fitting lid to trap the steam. Let the dumplings steam for 6 to 8 minutes, or until most of the water has evaporated and the dumplings are cooked through.
  4. Crisp the bottoms again: Remove the lid and continue cooking for a few minutes to let any remaining water evaporate, allowing the dumplings’ bottoms to crisp up once more.
  5. Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 tablespoon rice vinegar, 1 teaspoon sesame oil, 1 teaspoon minced garlic, 1 teaspoon grated ginger, and 1 tablespoon honey or sugar until combined.
  6. Coat dumplings with sauce: Pour the sauce into the skillet over the dumplings and gently toss or swirl to coat evenly. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes, letting the sauce thicken slightly and glaze the dumplings.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle sliced green onions, optional sesame seeds, and chili flakes on top. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Do not overcrowd the pan to avoid dumplings sticking together and ensure even cooking.
  • You can substitute with any type of frozen dumpling filling such as chicken, pork, or vegetable according to preference.
  • For an extra crispy bottom, let the dumplings cook undisturbed during the final stage after removing the lid.
  • If you want more heat, increase the amount of chili flakes or serve with a chili dipping sauce.
