Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 3 cups thawed whole, pitted cherries (with juice)
- 1 cup cherry juice (from pureed and strained cherries)
- 9 cups purified water, divided
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 to 1½ cups fresh lemon juice (adjust to taste)
For Garnish
- Fresh mint leaves
- Fresh cherries
- Lemon slices
Instructions
- Prepare Cherry Juice: Add the thawed cherries, including any juice from the bag, to a blender. Blend until completely pureed to create a smooth cherry base.
- Strain the Puree: Double strain the blended cherries through a fine mesh sieve or a juicing bag to remove all pulp and solids. You should get about 1 cup of clear cherry juice to use in the lemonade.
- Combine Juice and Sugar: Pour the cherry juice into a large pitcher. Heat 2 cups of the purified water until warm, then add this to the pitcher along with the granulated sugar. Stir thoroughly until the sugar has fully dissolved into the warm liquid.
- Add Lemon and Water: Stir in the fresh lemon juice along with the remaining 7 cups of cold purified water. Add the water gradually, one cup at a time, tasting as you go to adjust the lemonade’s sweetness and tartness to your preference.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes to chill and allow the flavors to meld. Before serving, stir well because the ingredients can settle. Serve the lemonade over ice, and garnish with fresh mint leaves, cherries, or lemon slices as desired for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
- Adjust lemon juice quantity depending on how tart you prefer your lemonade.
- For a less sweet version, reduce the sugar amount accordingly.
- Using fresh or frozen cherries works well, just ensure they are fully thawed before blending.
- Double straining is key to a smooth texture without pulp in the lemonade.
- Serve the lemonade chilled over ice for the best refreshing experience.
