Ingredients
Scale
Chicken Marinade
- 2 lbs chicken breast, cut into cubes
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 2 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp cumin
- Salt and pepper to taste
Other
- Wooden skewers, soaked in water for at least 30 minutes
Instructions
- Prepare the marinade: In a bowl, combine lime juice, chili powder, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and pepper. Mix thoroughly to create a uniform marinade.
- Marinate the chicken: Add the chicken breast cubes to the marinade and toss well to ensure every piece is evenly coated. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse the chicken.
- Preheat the grill: Heat your grill to medium-high heat, ensuring it is clean and oiled to prevent sticking.
- Assemble the skewers: Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the soaked wooden skewers, leaving a little space between pieces to allow even cooking.
- Grill the skewers: Place the skewers over the preheated grill and cook for 10 to 15 minutes, turning occasionally to ensure all sides are cooked evenly and the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (75°C).
- Serve: Remove the skewers from the grill, let them rest for a couple of minutes, then serve hot. These skewers pair well with fresh salads, rice, or grilled vegetables.
Notes
- Soaking wooden skewers prevents them from burning on the grill.
- Marinate chicken for longer than 30 minutes if time allows, up to 4 hours, for deeper flavor.
- Use a food thermometer to check chicken is fully cooked to a safe temperature of 165°F.
- Can substitute chicken breast with thigh meat for a juicier alternative.
- Adjust chili powder to your preferred heat level or add smoked paprika for a smoky touch.
