Description

Delicious and tender BBQ Beef Brisket Sandwiches featuring slow-roasted beef brisket smothered in rich barbecue sauce, served on toasted sandwich buns with optional coleslaw and pickles for a perfect balance of flavors and textures. Ideal for a hearty main course that brings classic American comfort food to your table.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Brisket and Seasoning

  • 3 pounds beef brisket
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder

Liquid and Sauce

  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 1/2 cups barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Assembly

  • 8 sandwich buns
  • 1 cup coleslaw (optional)
  • sliced pickles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Brisket: Preheat your oven to 300°F. Pat the brisket dry with paper towels to remove moisture, then rub it evenly with olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder to ensure a well-seasoned crust.
  2. Roast the Brisket: Place the seasoned brisket in a roasting pan. Pour the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce into the pan around the brisket. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil to keep the moisture in and roast in the oven for 3 to 4 hours, or until the meat is very tender and can be shredded easily with forks.
  3. Rest and Shred: Remove the brisket from the oven and let it rest covered for 15 minutes to allow juices to redistribute. Then, shred the meat using two forks, separating it into bite-sized pieces.
  4. Mix with Barbecue Sauce: Return the shredded beef to the roasting pan or a mixing bowl, pour the barbecue sauce over it, and stir to combine thoroughly, coating the meat evenly.
  5. Prepare Sandwiches: Lightly toast the sandwich buns if desired for added texture. Pile generous portions of the BBQ brisket onto each bun and top with coleslaw and sliced pickles if using, for added freshness and crunch.
  6. Serve: Serve the sandwiches warm for the best flavor and enjoyment.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor and easier hands-off cooking, use a slow cooker on low for 8 to 10 hours instead of oven roasting.
  • Customize the taste by choosing your favorite barbecue sauce variety, whether sweet, spicy, or smoky.
  • Store any leftover brisket in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days; it reheats well.
