Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
Seasonings and Sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 teaspoon minced ginger
Garnish (Optional)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 2 green onions, sliced
Instructions
- Prepare Brussels Sprouts: Rinse the Brussels sprouts under cold water to clean off any dirt or debris. Trim the stem ends, removing any discolored outer leaves, then cut each sprout in half lengthwise.
- Preheat Oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) to get it ready for roasting.
- Toss with Oil and Seasoning: In a large mixing bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Toss well to ensure even coating of oil and seasoning.
- Roast Brussels Sprouts: Spread the Brussels sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet. Roast in the oven for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through for even browning, until they are golden and crispy.
- Prepare Sweet Chili Sauce: While the sprouts roast, mix together sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, minced garlic, and minced ginger in a small bowl. Stir to combine.
- Combine and Coat: Once roasted, remove the Brussels sprouts from the oven and let them cool for a minute. Transfer them to a large bowl and pour the prepared sweet chili sauce over them, tossing gently to coat evenly.
- Garnish and Serve: Transfer the coated Brussels sprouts to a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and sliced green onions if desired. Serve warm as a tasty side dish or appetizer.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, avoid overcrowding the baking sheet when roasting.
- Adjust the amount of sweet chili sauce based on your spice preference.
- Sesame seeds and green onions add a nice crunch and fresh flavor but can be omitted for a simpler dish.
- Use gluten-free soy sauce to make this recipe gluten-free.
- Great served alongside grilled meats or as part of a vegetarian meal.
