Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 1 pound refrigerated or frozen beef ravioli
Meat Sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 pound ground Italian sausage
- 1/2 pound lean ground beef
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 24-ounce jar marinara sauce
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
Toppings & Garnish
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook Ravioli: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the beef ravioli according to package directions until al dente. Drain the ravioli and set aside.
- Brown the Meat: In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add the ground Italian sausage and ground beef, breaking the meat apart as it cooks. Continue cooking until browned and fully cooked, about 7 to 9 minutes. Drain excess grease if necessary.
- Sauté Aromatics: Add the finely diced onion to the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes until softened. Stir in minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Simmer Sauce: Pour in the marinara sauce and beef broth, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese, cooking for 3 to 5 minutes until the sauce slightly thickens.
- Combine Ravioli and Sauce: Add the cooked ravioli to the skillet and gently toss to coat the pasta evenly with the creamy meat sauce.
- Melt Cheese: Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese over the top of the ravioli and sauce mixture. Cover the skillet and cook on low heat for 2 to 3 minutes until the mozzarella is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from heat, garnish with chopped fresh parsley, and serve immediately for a warm, comforting meal.
Notes
- You can substitute ground turkey or ground chicken for a lighter option.
- For extra heat, add red pepper flakes along with the Italian seasoning.
- This dish can also be baked at 375°F for 15 minutes after topping with mozzarella to create a casserole-style meal.
