Ingredients
Scale
Fruit
- 4 cups fresh pineapple chunks
- 1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries
Liquid & Sweeteners
- 2 1/2 cups water, divided (1 cup for blending, 1 1/2 cups for diluting)
- 2 tablespoons agave nectar
- Juice of 1 lime (about 2–3 tablespoons)
Instructions
- Blend the Fruit & Sweeteners: In a blender, combine the fresh pineapple chunks, fresh strawberries, 1 cup of water, agave nectar, and lime juice. Blend the mixture until it is completely pureed with no large fruit chunks remaining. Pause and scrape down the sides of the blender as needed to ensure an even blend.
- Strain the Juice: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher or bowl. Use the back of a spoon or spatula to gently press and extract as much juice as possible while leaving the pulp behind. This yields a smoother, pulp-free drink.
- Add Water and Mix: Stir in the remaining 1 1/2 cups of water into the pitcher with the strained juice. Mix well to combine. Chill the agua fresca in the refrigerator before serving, or serve immediately over ice for a refreshing beverage.
Notes
- For a sweeter drink, adjust the agave nectar quantity to taste.
- Use very ripe strawberries and pineapple for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
- This drink can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- To make it a sparkling version, substitute still water with sparkling water when adding the remaining water.
- For a thicker texture, do not strain the juice and serve as a smoothie-style drink.
