Description

Delight in the perfect breakfast treat with King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish—soft, sweet Hawaiian rolls filled with a creamy vanilla cheesecake mixture, baked to golden perfection, then sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar for a luscious finish. This easy-to-make recipe brings the classic flavors of a cheesecake danish to your kitchen in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Rolls

  • 1 package King’s Hawaiian Sweet Rolls (12 count)

Cheesecake Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 egg yolk

Topping

  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon sugar (1 1/2 tablespoons sugar mixed with 1/2 tablespoon cinnamon)
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
  2. Slice Rolls. Carefully slice each King’s Hawaiian Sweet Roll in half horizontally without cutting all the way through, creating a pocket to hold the filling.
  3. Prepare Filling. In a medium bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg yolk until the mixture is smooth and creamy with no lumps.
  4. Fill Rolls. Spoon the cream cheese mixture generously into the pocket of each sweet roll, making sure the filling is evenly distributed.
  5. Brush and Sprinkle. Arrange the filled rolls on the baking sheet. Brush each roll with the melted butter, then evenly sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the tops.
  6. Bake. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and the filling is set.
  7. Finishing Touch. Once baked, remove from oven and allow to cool slightly. Dust the danishes with powdered sugar before serving for an elegant and sweet finish.

Notes

  • For best results, ensure cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • You can prepare cinnamon sugar ahead of time by mixing sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature for optimal flavor and texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 4 days.
  • Reheat gently in a microwave or oven before serving.
