Ingredients
Scale
Cheesecake Mixture
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Fruit Layer
- 1 can (21 oz) strawberry pie filling
Cake Topping
- 1 box (15.25 oz) vanilla cake mix
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
- Make Cheesecake Mixture: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Layer Strawberry Filling: Spread the strawberry pie filling evenly over the bottom of the prepared baking dish to create the fruit base.
- Add Cheesecake Spoonfuls: Drop spoonfuls of the cream cheese mixture evenly over the strawberry filling layer without spreading.
- Top with Dry Cake Mix: Sprinkle the dry vanilla cake mix evenly over the cream cheese and strawberry layers, covering them well.
- Pour Butter Mixture: In a separate bowl, whisk together the melted butter, milk, and salt. Pour this mixture evenly over the dry cake mix layer, covering as much as possible without stirring.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly, indicating the cake is cooked through.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the cake to cool slightly before serving. For an extra treat, serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Notes
- This dessert is best enjoyed warm and pairs wonderfully with vanilla ice cream.
- You can substitute strawberry pie filling with cherry or blueberry for a different fruity variation.
- Do not stir the layers after assembling to maintain the classic dump cake texture with distinct layers.
