Ingredients
Scale
Mushroom Coating
- 1 pound fresh mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper to taste
Frying
- Vegetable oil for frying
Serving
- Ranch dressing (for dipping)
Instructions
- Prepare Coating Stations: Set up three shallow bowls for breading. Fill the first bowl with all-purpose flour. In the second bowl, beat the eggs thoroughly. In the third bowl, combine breadcrumbs with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper to season the coating mix.
- Bread the Mushrooms: Take each mushroom slice and dip it first into the flour, ensuring it is lightly coated. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs to moisten the surface, then press it into the seasoned breadcrumb mixture until fully covered. Repeat for all slices.
- Heat Oil for Frying: Pour vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat over medium heat until hot but not smoking, preparing it for frying the mushrooms.
- Fry the Mushrooms: Carefully place the breaded mushroom slices into the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding which can reduce crispiness. Fry each side for 2-3 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer them onto paper towels to drain excess oil.
- Serve: Serve the crispy fried mushrooms immediately while hot along with ranch dressing on the side for dipping. Enjoy this delicious appetizer or snack!
Notes
- Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent soggy mushrooms.
- Do not overcrowd the pan to keep the mushrooms crispy.
- Use fresh mushrooms for the best texture and flavor.
- Leftover fried mushrooms can be reheated in an oven to maintain crispiness.
- Ranch dressing can be substituted with other dips like blue cheese or garlic aioli.
