Ingredients
Scale
Cinnamon Roll Layers
- 2 cans (8-count) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing)
Apple Filling
- 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
Cream Cheese Layer
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter to prevent sticking and add flavor.
- Prepare Bottom Layer: Separate the cinnamon rolls and flatten each into a 3-inch round. Use half of these flattened rolls to cover the bottom of the baking dish, pressing them together to seal any gaps.
- Mix Apple Filling: In a bowl, combine the apple pie filling with cinnamon and optional nutmeg to enhance fall flavors. Spread half of this mixture evenly over the cinnamon roll layer.
- Make Cream Cheese Mixture: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and egg until smooth and creamy. Spread this mixture evenly over the apple layer.
- Add Remaining Apple Filling: Spread the remaining apple pie filling over the cream cheese layer to add extra fruity sweetness.
- Top with Remaining Cinnamon Rolls: Flatten the remaining cinnamon rolls and arrange them over the top to completely cover the filling layers.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes until the top is golden brown and the dessert is set.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the lasagna to cool for about 10 minutes, then drizzle the reserved icing from the cinnamon roll cans over the top. Serve warm or chilled.
Notes
- You can add chopped nuts such as walnuts or pecans between layers for extra texture.
- Letting the dessert cool slightly before drizzling icing helps it set nicely without melting too much.
- This recipe can be prepared a few hours ahead and refrigerated; warm slightly before serving for best flavor.
- For a spicier kick, increase cinnamon or add a pinch of cloves to the apple filling.
