Description

This Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie is a warm, gooey dessert made in a mini cast iron skillet. With a soft, cake-like texture and melty milk chocolate chips, it’s perfect for sharing and serves beautifully with vanilla ice cream and caramel or chocolate drizzle for an indulgent treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Cookie Batter

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Skillet: Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a mini 6-inch cast iron skillet with non-stick spray or a little oil to prevent sticking and set it aside.
  2. Make the Batter: In a medium bowl, combine the melted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated sugar. Stir in the egg and vanilla extract until everything is well incorporated. Then, add the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix well until the batter reaches a cake-like consistency. Finally, fold in the milk chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
  3. Fill Skillet and Bake: Pour the prepared batter into the greased skillet and spread it out evenly. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 12 to 14 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  4. Serve Warm: Remove the skillet from the oven and let it cool slightly. Serve the cookie warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and drizzles of caramel and chocolate sauce for extra indulgence. Enjoy immediately!

Notes

  • Using a mini cast iron skillet gives the cookie a crispy edge and gooey center.
  • Make sure not to overbake; the center should remain soft.
  • You can substitute milk chocolate chips with dark or white chocolate chips based on preference.
  • For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with a vegan butter alternative and choose dairy-free chocolate chips.
  • Vanilla ice cream and sauces are optional but recommended to enhance the dessert experience.
