Description

This Cajun Crab and Shrimp Dip is a creamy, flavorful appetizer perfect for seafood lovers. Blended with cream cheese, sour cream, and a blend of cheeses, seasoned with Cajun spices and garlic, and loaded with succulent shrimp and lump crab meat. Baked until hot and bubbly, it makes a delightful party dip served warm with baguette slices, crackers, or tortilla chips.

Ingredients

Scale

Dairy & Cream Base

  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese

Seafood

  • ½ lb cooked shrimp (chopped)
  • ½ lb lump crab meat (drained and picked over)

Seasonings & Aromatics

  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 2 green onions (thinly sliced)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Hot sauce to taste (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the dip.
  2. Mix Cream Base and Seasonings: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, shredded mozzarella, shredded cheddar, Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, and lemon juice. Stir the mixture until it becomes smooth and creamy.
  3. Add Seafood and Herbs: Gently fold in the chopped cooked shrimp, lump crab meat, thinly sliced green onions, and chopped fresh parsley. Season with salt, pepper, and add hot sauce if you like a spicy kick.
  4. Prepare to Bake: Transfer the combined mixture into a greased baking dish, spreading it out evenly to ensure consistent baking.
  5. Bake the Dip: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot, bubbly, and the top is lightly golden.
  6. Serve Warm: Remove from the oven and serve immediately with toasted baguette slices, crackers, or tortilla chips for dipping.

Notes

  • For more heat, add diced jalapeños or extra hot sauce into the mixture before baking.
  • This dip can be prepared a day in advance and baked just before serving to save time.
  • If preferred, you can serve this dip cold as a spread instead of baking it.
