Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 4 medium-sized lemons (preferably fresh and organic)
- 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 4 cups cold water
- 1/4 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1-2 cups ice cubes (or more, depending on preference)
- Lime wedges or lemon slices for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Lemons: Wash the lemons thoroughly to remove any dirt or wax. Cut off the ends of each lemon and then slice each lemon into 8 wedges, keeping the peel on as it adds essential oils and flavor to the drink.
- Blend the Ingredients: In a blender, combine the lemon wedges, cold water, sweetened condensed milk, and sugar. This combination balances the tartness and sweetness perfectly.
- Blend Thoroughly: Blend on high speed for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, until the lemons are completely broken down and the mixture becomes frothy, ensuring all flavors are well incorporated.
- Strain (Optional): For a smoother texture, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth to remove pulp and seeds. If you prefer a bit of texture and rustic feel, you can skip this step.
- Add Ice and Blend Again: Add the ice cubes to the blender and blend again until the ice is crushed and the drink is cold and frothy, making it refreshing and chilled.
- Serve: Pour the Brazilian lemonade into glasses. Garnish with lime wedges or lemon slices if desired, and serve immediately for best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Use fresh, preferably organic lemons to avoid pesticides and to enhance flavor.
- You can adjust the sugar quantity based on your preferred sweetness level.
- Straining is optional; leaving the pulp in the lemonade adds texture but may slightly increase bitterness from the peel.
- This drink is best served immediately as it can turn bitter if left to sit too long.
- For a lighter version, consider using a sugar substitute or reducing the sweetened condensed milk.
