Description

These Air Fryer Protein Bagels are a quick and healthy breakfast option packed with protein and perfect for a busy morning. Made with Greek yogurt, self-rising flour, and protein powder, they’re easy to prepare and cook in the air fryer for a golden, delicious finish with your favorite toppings.

Ingredients

Scale

Bagel Dough

  • 1 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 cup self-rising flour
  • 1 scoop unflavored or vanilla protein powder (about 25–30g)

Toppings & Finishes

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Optional toppings: everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, or poppy seeds

Instructions

  1. Prepare the dough: In a mixing bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, self-rising flour, and protein powder. Stir the ingredients together until a dough forms, then transfer it onto a floured surface and knead briefly until smooth and pliable.
  2. Shape the bagels: Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll each portion into a rope and connect the ends to form classic bagel shapes.
  3. Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and preheat for 3 minutes to ensure even cooking.
  4. Apply egg wash and toppings: Brush each bagel with the beaten egg to create a glossy finish. Sprinkle your choice of toppings such as everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds, or poppy seeds for added flavor and texture.
  5. Air fry the bagels: Place the bagels carefully in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook at 350°F for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they turn golden brown and are cooked through.
  6. Cool and serve: Remove the bagels from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving to enjoy their perfect texture and flavor.

Notes

  • If you don’t have self-rising flour, make your own by mixing 1 cup all-purpose flour with 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  • For best taste and freshness, consume these bagels shortly after cooking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days to maintain softness.
  • Feel free to customize toppings to suit your preference or dietary needs.
